Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell is a noted American singer, songwriter and actor. Her music covers a variety of genres including pop, pop rock, alt-pop and electropop. She first gained fame in 2015 at the age of only 13 years following her debut hit single Ocean Eyes. Besides vocals, Eilish can excellently play the guitar, ukulele and piano. The music star is renowned for her trademark fashion style of loose-fitting clothing.

Eilish among the most decorated artist having bagged manifold awards. They include; nine Grammy Awards, two Guinness World Records, two American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. She is not only the youngest Grammy Award winner but the youngest artist to win all four general field categories; Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist. Additionally, Billie is the youngest person to ever win an Academy Award twice.

2015-2017: First song and debut EP

Eilish started her music career in 2015 under the mentorship of her mother and brother. In November 2015, she released her first song, Ocean Eyes, written and produced by Finneas her brother which received several hundred thousand listens in only two weeks. On 24 March 2016, the songs music video premiered on Billie’s official You Tube channel with the song and its artist receiving huge commendation from across numerous media and music centers. Together with Finneas, she dropped her second single, Six Feet Under on 23 June 2016.

In August 2016, Eilish signed for Darkroom and interscope Records where she blossomed to become an established artist. She released her debut EP, Don’t Smile At Me on 11 August 2017 which reached number fourteen on the United States’ Billboard 200. This was followed a tour titled after the EP in October 2017. In September that year, Billie was named by Apple Music as their Up Next artist.

2018-2020: Debut album and four Grammy awards

On October 2018, Eilish signed a talent contract for fashion and beauty endorsements with modeling agency, Next Management. The following month she featured in the Forbes 30 under 30 list and as well dropped a single Come Out and Play. Her song Don’t Smile at Me hit 1 billion streams on Spotify to make her the youngest musician to achieve this milestone. On 29 March 2019, Billie released her debut album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? with the album topping Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. This made Eilish the first artist born in the 21st century to have an album topping in the United States and also the youngest female artist to ever have an album top the UK chart.

On 20 November 2020, Billie received six Grammy Awards nominations. This included; Record of the Year, Song of the Year- Bad Guy, Best New Artist and Album of the Year. She became the youngest musician, at only 17 to be nominated in all the four General categories. Still in the same month, she was crowned the 2019 Billboard Woman of the Year. Eilish would proceed to win the Grammy’s Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and the Record of the Year. Consequently, making her the youngest artist to win the four Grammy main categories. Again in 2020, Eilish featured in the Forbes Celebrity 100 list becoming the youngest person to be included in the list.

2021-2022: Second album, surprise EP, Academy Award and two more Grammys

In 2021, Eilish won two more Grammy Awards for Record of the Year for Everything I Wanted and Best Song written for Visual Media for her Bond theme song. In July same year, She dropped her second album, Happier Than Ever. As a way of marketing the album, Billie joined forces with Disney on Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles a concert film dropped in September 2021. Her Happier Than Ever, The World Tour began in February 2022 and ended in April 2023.

In 2022, the American sensation’s No time to die won her the Academy Award for the Best Original song. Consequently, she became the first artist born in 2000s to win the award. She also became the youngest artist to headline for Coachella and Glastonbury. In July same year while still on her World Tour, Eilish surprise-released a two-track EP Guitar songs.

2023-2024: Acting debut, third album, second Academy Award and two more Grammys.

The decorated musician decided to pursue acting and made her debut in 2023 in the Swarm, a satirical comedy thriller miniseries. She got a lot a positive reviews for her performance as Eva, a cult leader.

Her song What Was I Made For? won the Academy Award for Best original Song in addition to two Grammy Awards for Best Song Written for Visual Media and Song of the Year. She also made history as the youngest person to ever win two Academy Awards.

Eilish dropped her third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft in May 2024.
