2015- 2020
The World champion started her athletics career as a 400 m sprinter. In 2015 while aged 21 years old, the star athlete made it under 51 seconds in June and under 50 seconds in August. She won bronze in 400 m and gold in 4X400 m relay in the 2015 World Championships in Beijing.
In 2016 Rio Olympics, Jackson was on the podium twice, taking bronze and silver in 400 m and 4X400 m respectively.
During the 2019 World Championships in Doha, she emphasized her prominence in the two races again after winning bronze in both. Shericka as well won gold in the 4X100 m relay.
2021- present
In 2021, Shericka would later venture into 100 m and 200 m sprints. In the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Jackson won gold 4X100 m, and bronze both 100 m and 4X400 m respectively. Later in the year, she achieved personal bests of below 10.8, 22 and 49.5 seconds in 100 m, 200m and 400 m respectively. She consequently became one of the few athletes to reach such landmark achievements simultaneously.
At 2022 World Championships, Shericka won silver for both 100 m and 4X100 m relay. She also set a national record as she won gold in 200 m. Additionally, she was the 200 m champion at the 2022 Diamond League.
During the August 2023 World Championships at Budapest, Jackson retained the women’s 200 m title. This after the Jamaican star clocked 21.41 seconds, ahead of American pair of Gabby Thomas (21.81) and Sha’Carri Richardson (21.92) who won silver and bronze respectively. Jackson consequently broke a record she had set 12 months ago. That was the second fastest time in the discipline’s history. She also took silver in the100 m and 4X100 m relay.
The following month, the half-track champion was at it again during the Diamond League Final in Eugene. She beat the long-time leader Marie-Josee Ta Lou to clinch the Diamond Trophy in 10.70 seconds. Jackson as well the 200 m winner after she clocked the meeting record of 21.57 seconds.
