Kate attended Chogoria High School where her passion and talent for acting was nurtured as she was extremely active in the school drama club. She would later move to Loreto Convent Msongari where she won the Miss Loreto pagean award.
After completing her high school education, Celina enrolled for a Diploma in Communication, majoring in public relations at Kenya College of Communication and Technology (now MultiMedia University of Kenya). She later joined KCA University for an accountancy course but dropped out on realizing that it was not in her strong interest.

Kate started her acting career as a dancer and receptionist for the famous Citizen TV show ‘Mother-in-law’ which began in 2006. She would later take the main role of Celina (Charlie’s wife and Olive’s mother). It is her extremely appealing performance in this drama series that Kate proved to be one of the best actresses in the industry.
Despite being viewers favorite in Mother-in-law, Kamau left the show. She took the role of Sue in a Swahili TV series ‘Sue na Jonnie’.
