Diamond Platnumz, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack is a prominent Tanzanian musician, dancer, songwriter, businessman and philanthropist. His lyrics are mainly in Swahili. Diamond also nicknamed ‘Simba’ (Swahili for Lion) is among the most prominent and influential musicians in Africa. He was the first artist based in Africa to reach a combined total of one billion views on YouTube.

The multi-talented musician is a singer, dancer, actor and songwriter. Apart from being magnificent in vocals, he is also excellent in playing music instruments including piano, guitar and drums. His music cuts across various genres such as Bongo flava, Afro-beats, RnB and soukous.

He is as well a successful businessman, the proprietor and CEO of WCB Wasafi record label, Wasafi media (which includes Wasafi TV and Radio) and Wasafi Bet. WCB Wasafi is one of the most successful record labels in Africa having nurtured and produced a number of the best artists in the region. They include Harmonize, Rayvanny, Lavalava, Mbosso, Queen Darleen and Zuchu.

The music star was born in Amana Hospital, Dar es Salaam in October 1889. He grew up at his grandmother’s home in Tandale were he was brought up by his mother and grandmother.

The Tanzanian superstar attended Chakula Bora Nursery School in 1995 before joining Tandale Magharibi Primary School from 1996 until 2002. He then enrolled for Secondary education graduating in 2006.

Diamond grew up watching and listening to local and international musicians whom he would copy their performances. The young Naseeb also took part in singing competitions.

Parents and siblings

The celebrity’s parents are Abdul Juma (father) and Sanura Kasimu (mother).

His sisters are Mwanahawa Abdul Juma (Queen Darleen) who is a musician and Esma Khan-Platnumz, a business woman and socialite.

Children

Diamond has four children from three previous relationships. He has two children with South African-based Ugandan entrepreneur Zari Hassan; Nillan (son) and Tiffah (daughter), with Tanzanian model Hamisa Mobeto a son named Dylan Abdul Naseeb and with Kenyan musian and model Tanasha Donna another son called Naseeb Junior.

After completing his education in 2006 at the age of 17 years, Diamond engaged in various jobs so as to make a living. From a second-hand clothes seller, a filling station attendant, to a freelance photographer. At the same time he was still endeavoring to raise funds for his music recording a task which proved a difficult one.

Even after eventually recording his first single Toka mwanzo, it did not hit immediately as expected. However, it served as a stepping stone while he took his first steps of the journey to stardom.

Diamond made his breakthrough in 2010 following the release of hit single Kamwambie which won three Tanzania music awards. His maiden album titled Kamwambie was also released in 2010. He has since released three other albums namely; Lala salama in 2012, A boy from Tandale in 2018 and First Of All in 2022.

He has collaborated with a large number of top musicians across Africa and overseas. Among them are Koffi Olomide, Rick Ross, Morgan Heritage, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo and P-Square.

The amply talented musician has won over seventy awards since 2010 making him the most decorated artist in East Africa and the fifth most awarded in sub-Saharan Africa. Among these awards include; Tanzania Music Awards, MTV Africa Music Awards and BET Awards.

Diamond has an estimated net worth of $12 Million as of 2024. Among his most valuable assets is a luxurious home worth about $700,000 and a private jet worth over $230,000.

His main income sources are music, entrepreneurship and endorsement deals.
