Rashid Abdallah is a prominent Kenyan journalist and philanthropist who works as a Swahili news anchor and news reporter at Royal Media Services owned Citizen TV. Owing to his expertise and articulation in Swahili language, Rashid has established himself as one of the best Swahili news anchors in the Kenyan media industry.
He hosts alongside his adorable wife Lulu Hassan arguably Kenya’s most popular news show ‘Nipashe Wikendi’. The news bulletin airs every Saturday and Sunday starting at 7 p.m. (EAT) on Citizen TV. They are the first couple in Kenyan media history to co-host in news anchoring.

The now renowned media personality upon completing his education started his career in 2006 as a radio presenter at Radio Salaam. It is here got the opportunity to sharpen his skills and soon he started going up the career ladder.
He moved to Nation Media Group’s QTV where he worked for several months before relocating to NTV, the principal NMG television station. At NTV, Abdalla worked as a Swahili news presenter and in no time became a big name in the media industry.
Rashid left NTV for Royal Media’s Citizen Tv in 2018, a move that caught many by surprise. Apart from Abdalla working in the same company with his wife Lulu Hassan, they would host the same news broadcast, ‘Citizen Nipashe’ together. This made them the first couple in the history of Kenyan media to co-host a news program. Today the program is arguably the most popular across Kenya and beyond.
