Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa professionally known as Rayvanny and nicknamed Vannyboy or Chui (Swahili for leopard) is a Tanzanian singer, recording artist and songwriter. The famous artist is the CEO of Next Level Music, a record label he established in 2021. His lyrics are chiefly in Swahili and his genres are Bongo flava, Afro-pop and R&B.

Vannyboy is one of the most successful artist from East African. He was previously signed under Diamond Platmunz owned WCB Wasafi record label before relocating to Next Level Music in July 2022.

Rayvanny is a winner of a number of accolades such as Afrimma Best Male Artist East Africa 2022 and BET Awards International Viewers’ Choice Award 2017. Additionally, he has in the past been nominated for the reputable Grammy Awards and MTV Africa Music Awards.

Raymond had been passionate about music ever since he was young. However it was in 2011 while still in high school when he made the decision to follow this passion. He participated and won a rap freestyle competition. In 2012, he joined Tip Top Connection. Here he gained invaluable experience in music and got important connections with a number of artists.

In 2015, Rayvanny made one of best decisions in his life when he joined WCB Wasafi Records. At Wasafi, he grew vastly to become one of the greatest artists in East Africa.

In 2016, the talented artist released his first song, Kwetu which was a huge success. Same year, he was nominated for MTV Africa Music Awards, Breakthrough Act category. He was as well nominated for a number of music awards in 2017. These included; BET Award for International Viewers’ Choice, AEUSA for Best New Talent and Uganda Entertainment Award for Best African Act.

Rayvanny established his own record label, Next Level Music in 2021 and signed his first artist named Mac Voice. In July 2022, he left WCB Wasafi Records to concentrate his attention on Next Level Music. Under Wasafi, Vannyboy has recorded one Album and five Extended plays.

He is the first Tanzanian artist to win a BET Award and also the first Tanzanian musician to hit 100 Million streams on Boomplay.

In his music, he has collaborated with numerous artists including; Koffi Olominde, Diamond Platnumz, Queen Darleen, Maluma, Mavokali, Mbosso, Lavalava and Zuchu. Some of his best hits are Chuchuma, Tetema, Unaimbiwa, Zezeta and Mwamba.
