Mbwana Yusuf Kilungi renowned as Mbosso Khan is a celebrated Tanzanian singer, guitarist and songwriter. The multi-talented hitmaker is well-known for his exceptionally romantic Swahili love songs. Mbosso is also excellent in dancing. His music is majorly in Swahili and his genres are Bongo flava, R&B and Afro-pop.

Mbosso music career began in 2013 as part of a four-member band, Yamoto. The band was under the guidance of a legendary Tanzanian music magnate, Mkubwa Fella.

In 2018, he signed for WCB Wasafi, a Diamond Platnumz founded record label as a solo artist. At Wasafi, Mbosso has flourished his music career to become one of the leading Bongo Flava and Afro pop artist in Africa.

Mbosso Career

The Bongo music star developed love for music at his childhood. Upon completion of his Secondary education Mbosso left his rural home in Kibiti for Dar es Salaam in pursuit for a better life. However, unable to secure employment and with no place to stay it was tough at first. The talented Bongo music artist then resolved to playing guitar on the streets of Dar es Salaam. It is on these streets where his talent was noticed by Mkubwa Fella.

Yamoto band member

In 2013, under the guidance of Mkubwa, Mbosso (then going by the stage name Maromboso) teamed up with three other upcoming artists to form, Yamoto Band. The three are namely Aslay, Beka Flavour and Enock Bella. The band released a number of tracks that were superbly well received and was soon taking the entire East African region by storm. It was voted the Best band in the 2015 Kilimanjaro Music Awards. However, following a series of disagreements among its members, the group was disbanded in 2015.

The band break up did not go down well with Mbosso who gave up his music career and returned to the village to live despondency.

Solo artist at WCB Wasafi

In 2018, Diamond Platnumz owned record label, WCB Wasafi signed Mbosso. This is all thanks to Rayvanny who went looking him at his village and convinced him to give music another shot. At Wasafi, Mbosso re-started his music career as a solo artist and his progress has been on an uptrend since. The gifted artist has released numerous tracks including; Watakubali, Nimekuzoea, Picha yake, Tamba and Ulikuwa wapi?

The Bongo star hit a million subscribers in 2020 to become one of the four Tanzanian Artists to achieve the milestone. Consequently, he won the You Tube Golden Plaque. On 9 March 2021, he released his first studio album Definition of Love. It featured a number of established musicians including Diamond Platnumz, Rayvanny, Baba Levo, Spice Diana and Darassa. In November 2022, he released his debut Extended Play entitled Khan. The EP acquired over 50 million streams on Boomplay to become one of the most streamed Tanzanian EPs.

In 2023, the Tanzanian hitmaker reached 200 million streams on Boomplay.
